It begins with the prelude. As soon as the wedding guests arrive at the ceremony site, the prelude starts to play which gives the audience an idea of the tone of the event. Then comes the processional; the music which begins when the wedding procession enters. It is basically played to let the wedding guests know that the wedding ceremony has officially begun.
Now there are a couple of variations which couples may make to the processional. For example, some choose to pause the music for a little while which indicates that the bride is coming, while some choose to take up the music up several notches which gives the audience an idea that something’s grand about to happen: the entrance of the bride! You may even choose several different processional pieces to be played at your wedding.
Once everyone has taken their place, including the bride and the groom, the ceremony music starts to play. Most couples choose traditional wedding pieces for their ceremony music as it goes nicely with the wedding vows that are to be exchanged shortly.
After the vows have been exchanged, the recessional music starts to play. It notifies the wedding ceremony’s culmination and usually is very up-beat in its style as the newly-wed couple step into their new, exciting phase of life. Think trumpets.
Once the recessional music has ended, the postlude begins. This is played when it’s time for the guests to leave the ceremony site.

Readings and various kinds of ceremonies may also be equally deserving of your attention! A “reading” at your ceremony can make your wedding seem even more special. A religious reading of any special text from the Bible is a very good idea. You don’t have to stick to just religious readings, though. You can even have a special person from your circle read one of your favorite Shakespearean sonnets—the more romantic they are, the better.
